Sunday’s Ready to Train – My Eager Cat Training Student

Sunday has her paw up and is ready to sit pretty and give me that high five. Even before I give her the command. LOL! I just love how Sunday is often ready to train. Watch this YouTube Short of Sunday: sit pretty with a high five.

An important part of cat training is knowing when my cat is ready to train. Sometimes I want to train but she wants to sleep, play or see what’s out the window instead.

How do I know when Sunday is ready to train?

  • Goes to one of her training spots
  • Gives me eye contact
  • She looks like she is focused

Sunday has a couple of training spots that she goes to when she is ready. I get excited when I see her on one of her training spots. If I have time to train her, I always take advantage of these precious moments. I grab some treats and the clicker and off we go.

Eye contact is a great signal that your cat is ready and paying attention to you. Yes, you can train your cat to give you eye contact. A training session can be clicking and rewarding when you capture your cat looking at you in the eye.

When she is done training before I am, she will usually just walk away to do whatever she feels like doing next.

Some of our training sessions are long, and some are short.

My favorite training sessions are when she is eager to train and we are both focused and in synch with one another. There is nothing quite like that feeling!

Happy cat clicker training!
